tricky t-day ~ opposites

Well, we were supposed to have "over" and "under" on verbal only cues by the end of this month.  However, I was a bit lax on my training.

Instead of verbal cues, the dogs are using the 'ol trial and error method.  Sometimes they get lucky, sometimes, not so much.  I do think Oreo knows the difference, but he doesn't always pay attention to what I'm saying.  Chewy, well, he's a work in progress.

We also worked on switching from "heel" to my other "side".  Both of them are pretty good at that move, since we've done so much perchwork.

mishmash monday

On Easter Sunday, I saw a fox in our yard for the first time.

Since then, he's made a few more appearances. On Friday, he hung around long enough for me to run inside and grab my camera.

The fox does scamper away when he sees me, but he usually sits at a distance watching us, which allows me to watch him in return.

From the rear, he looks just like Chewy!

mish mash monday

Oreo was not too happy about playtime being interrupted for a photo shoot, especially one involving stupid flowers!
"This is sooooo boring, and I know all you have in your pocket is stale kibble."

"Now this is more like it"
"But, I'll still eat the stale kibble."

"Hope everybody had as much fun this weekend as I did (minus the flower photo shoot)."

Oreo is smart

Oh I envy my dogs, living in a news free world.

Although, maybe Oreo is onto something....the safest place on earth may simply be your favorite person's lap.  Use caution everywhere else.
Our hearts go out to those in Boston, and we admire and respect those who ran toward the carnage to help. Such courage and kindness inspires me to do better.

mishmash monday

None of these are great shots, but you can tell my two hooligans were having a good ol' time.

And before any of you start saying "Oh, poor Oreo"....he's the one that instigates this behavior every time! He loves being chased.

spring fever

January 1st

January 28th

February 1st
March 1st

Oops.  Forgot to take the photo on April 1st. And again on April 2,3, & 4th!

Blame it on spring fever.

Alas, I don't think much changed over 4 days.  Everything still looks winter like, but, spring is definitely in the air.

mishmash monday

Man, I don't think 54 degrees every felt so good.

Both Oreo and Chewy spent some quality time sunbathing this Saturday.

While I spent some quality time with the rake, trying to find some green grass under all the brown gunk.

Chewy did awesome at agility this week. We really clicked. I think we're finally figuring each other out.  He's so fast, and I'm kinda dreading the day when we move back outside for class, because I think I'm going to realize how out of shape I am!

Chewy practices his teeter on his own all the time.  Cracks me up every time I hear it bang when I'm not looking.

Oreo did awesome at agility this week too.  After class, we did a little sniff n' stroll around the farm.  Instead of pulling me back to the car, Oreo sniffed, ate treats, and even dealt with people coming and going out of the parking lot without freaking out.
If only he could be this relaxed everywhere we go.

My training group is working on a new trick for the month - teaching "opposites".  I'm going to try and teach my two to go over or under my arm or leg or something else (any ideas? don't want to use a bar, because that could back fire in agility) on a verbal command.  Anyone want to join me?  I'd love to see some of our friends try to learn this too!  Could be amusing.....
