chewy loves christmas

Chewy had such a fun time on Christmas day.  During his early morning pee break, he started barking at what I though was nothing. But when we went back inside, there were presents in the living room. So, clearly he was barking at santa.

Once inside, he opened all his and Oreo's presents, while still keeping an ear open for Santa.

Them, he got to play with his fun (annoying) toy.

Then, we went to the food lady's house and he got to steal cheese off the coffee table, cookies off the end table, and ate filet of beef and potatoes for dinner.  He even got to lick the cutting board full of beef juice.

Not sure it gets any better than that for a Chewydog.

Oreo enjoyed the day too.  Especially the food lady's special bowls of food.

We all slept late this morning!

Hope everyone else had a nice day.  Chewy can't wait until next year.

a poem for you

Evolution of a Snowman

On a cold, snowy morn, Mr. Snowman rose from the ground.
Chewy could not believe what he had found.

Twelve inches of snow we had that day.
More fun couldn't be had, even in sunny May.

Two days later the snow clouds opened again.
Twas difficult getting my students to pick up a pen.

Experts told us we would get two to four.
Thus, buses were late arriving at the school door.

Mr. Snowman, always full of wit,
Took on a new look - one of Cousin It.

Everyone was happy, a white Christmas for all!
Oreo shouted, "Please throw me my ball!"

Friday arrived with a warming trend.
Sadly, Mother Nature wasn't going to bend.

A thaw we would have, our white turned to brown.
Even Mr. Snowman began to frown.

And here our story saddens, you might hide your eyes.
Our dear Mr. Snowman slowly reached his demise.

Now dear friends, please don't be sad.
Soon it will be snowing like mad.

A new Mr. Snowman will rise from the ground.
Oreo & Chewy won't believe what they've found!

someone is having a birthday

Oreo is turning 7 tomorrow.  What the heck?  How did my little baby boy become 7?

I can still remember how he felt, snuggling up in my coat on the drive home.  Poor Misty, she was very anxious about the big change when I brought him home.  She was throwing up for days.

Luckily, she learned that we still loved her, and now she had a playmate.
Since Oreo is a Christmas baby, he usually gets gypped when it comes to his birthday.  This year, I wanted to make sure that didn't happen.  We started celebrating early!

Saturday, I made him one of his favorite treats - meatballs!

I don't know how they know it's for them, but they do!

There will be cookies made today too!

Happy Birthday to my scaredy boy Oreo!  I've learned so much from you, and I love your sweet, sensitive soul.

While I was typing this, Oreo dropped two balls at my feet.  I guess he's not so old after all.

before the thaw

Our snow is starting to melt.  Gonna hit 60 here on Sunday.  Will be a muddy mess around here by then for sure.  Took these before the thaw.

Had my last day of school for the year today.  Looking forward to spending two whole weeks with my silly boys.

mishmash monday

I took so many photos yesterday! These are a few of the sillier ones.

It was a good time.  More photos to come!

white stuff

what happened?

The dogs were not quite sure what to make of their yard this morning.  We got a bunch of snow (maybe 10-12 inches?) last night, and it's still snowing.  Quite a shock for them!

Oreo wouldn't go back out until I shoveled a path for him. Spoiled boy.

Looking forward to playing out there today!  I know Chewy and Oreo will be plowing through the snow in no time.

calm before the storm

We're supposed to get real snow tonight (i.e. more than six inches).  So, after today, we might not be able to walk in the woods for awhile.  Unless anyone knows of some good dog snowshoes?

Took advantage of the adventure while we could.

Oreo always stops to pose before we walk up this hill.  Every time!  Not sure what that's all about.  Today, I obliged with a photo.
Chewy wants to show off his santa beard:

It was so cold out (16 degrees F), that his slobber froze as soon as it hit the air.
Funny, huh?

This morning, I went to the store to buy milk and bread.  Not because I need it, or because I'm worried about the storm stranding me, but due to the fact that everyone else seems to panic and I know they'll be sold out for a few days.  I got there around 11 this morning, and there were only about 10 gallons of skim left!   Ridiculous. I'm sure we'll all be plowed out by lunchtime tomorrow.

It always makes me think of this silly video.

Now to find that sled of mine.
