In anticipation of Thanksgiving, I've been working on training the dogs not to steal food off the coffee table. Of course, I waited until the week before the big day to start!
We were making great progress with "low value" food (which my dogs still find pretty darn valuable), like kibble and charlee bears. Then, I tried zukes and cheez its. Still pretty darn good self control.
Today, I tried smelly liverwurst! OK, that was a big leap. Maybe I should have eased into it with some chicken.
Here, I was expecting Oreo to be a good patient boy, and Chewy to be the vulture. Not the case.
That's ok though, because in a few days, Oreo is going to be a movie star! Yes, he will have a role in the movie "Break out of your Shell!" Catch him in the beginning of this preview.
Can't wait to see the whole thing!
Today at Chewy's agility class, I brought Oreo out into the ring when everyone was walking the course. Lots of people milling about, men talking, and the heater fan blowing on/off, and Oreo was a brave, brave boy. He kept giving me lots of attention, and when we got near the teeter, he hopped right on, and even went over a 16 inch jump! Never showed fear, just checked things out instead. It was all pretty impressive.
I'm going to keep trying that, with hopes he will be brave enough to do a rally trial in the same building this spring.
