real snow!

Finally got some real snow today ~ 6-7 inches by late afternoon. Chewy agreed to wear a coat, which saved him from looking like a drowned rat. Today would've been a snow day for sure, if school were in session. Oh well. I'll take it. Everything looks so pretty.

merry mishmash monday

I can never resist checking out the White House holiday decorations HGTV special.  Made Jeff watch it yesterday, and he kept falling asleep, snoring!  What is wrong with him?  Hello!  Magic in the making.

Now Bo, he knows how to appreciate the decorations.

No matter your politics, how can you not love Bo?  He's like a walking teddy bear.

Maybe next year, I'll make an Oreo or Chewy topiary out of 20,000 pom pom balls.

Peace & Joy to all!

snowflakes and rainbows

I had been hoping for a snow day today, but all we got was rain and wind.

Since we didn't get the real white stuff, many of us teachers had our students make paper snowflakes.  They will be sent to Sandy Hook Elementary to help decorate their new building with handcrafted love from across the country.

It was a nice way to start our holiday break.

Then, the rain gave us all a special treat. I saw this double rainbow during my hall duty. Can you see both of them?  It was pretty cool.  Funny how the pot of gold seems to be sitting on our brand new (very pricey) football field.

I'd love to send double rainbows to Sandy Hook as well!

If you'd like to send some snowflakes to Sandy Hook, go here to find out more information:

mail call!

Today, I spent much of my day cooking/baking. Poor dogs were wondering why we didn't go to school today, and why I wasn't paying them any attention.

Then, the mail came....... a special delivery for Oreo and Chewy the Shelties. What a surprise!

Our good friends, the cowspot dogs, sent them some holiday goodies.

I tried to get a nice photo of the dogs with their lovely gifts, but this is what happened.

Finally, since Chewy already had the package open, I had to give them their cheese pup-corn!  They gave it 2 paws up.

Thanks Reilly, Denny and Jackie!  Chewy loves rope toys, and Oreo loves balls, so they are happy doggies.

mishmash monday

Chewy does this all the time....not sure why.  Oreo has no problem telling Chewy to back off, which proves he really doesn't seem to mind Chewy, well, chewing on him.

snow!

Woke up to a fresh coat of white stuff this morning.

Chewy got the zoomies the minute his toe touched the ground.  Oreo wasn't zooming until he had his first cup of coffee. Too early for such antics.

mishmash monday

Blurry, but cute! It's exhausting being a brave, brave boy.

thief!

In anticipation of Thanksgiving, I've been working on training the dogs not to steal food off the coffee table. Of course, I waited until the week before the big day to start!

We were making great progress with "low value" food (which my dogs still find pretty darn valuable), like kibble and charlee bears.  Then, I tried zukes and cheez its.  Still pretty darn good self control.

Today, I tried smelly liverwurst!  OK, that was a big leap.  Maybe I should have eased into it with some chicken.

Here, I was expecting Oreo to be a good patient boy, and Chewy to be the vulture.  Not the case. That's ok though, because in a few days, Oreo is going to be a movie star! Yes, he will have a role in the movie "Break out of your Shell!" Catch him in the beginning of this preview.

Can't wait to see the whole thing! Today at Chewy's agility class, I brought Oreo out into the ring when everyone was walking the course. Lots of people milling about, men talking, and the heater fan blowing on/off, and Oreo was a brave, brave boy. He kept giving me lots of attention, and when we got near the teeter, he hopped right on, and even went over a 16 inch jump! Never showed fear, just checked things out instead. It was all pretty impressive.

I'm going to keep trying that, with hopes he will be brave enough to do a rally trial in the same building this spring.
