proud

"See my gold medal?"
Very proud of my boy Oreo!  He competed in DOCNA nationals today, after doing very little agility since June.  Obviously, he didn't do too shabby.  Although, we really didn't have any competition in our class.  Regardless, Oreo ran steady and had an overall good day.  He never was over the top nervous, with the death pull on the leash.

One person said, "Oreo ran with confidence."  Another person said, "Isn't that the dog who was scared of everything?"  Yep.  Still is, but he did good anyway.

We did standard and the North American Challenge run (also a standard).  I scratched him from his usual favorite, jumpers.  It was at the very end of the day, and we were both beat.

This may have been Oreo's retirement trial.  We'll see.  I may run him sporadically, in low key, small DOCNA trials next spring.  No more than one run a weekend though.

Very proud of Chewy for being quiet in his crate when I was out with Oreo.  He's a good boy.  I was really worried he would start howling when I ran Oreo, and I'd have one of "those dogs" that people tsk, tsk about.

"Someday those ribbons will have MY name on them!"

Very well done, Sara and Oreo! That's impressive! I have no doubt that Chewy will be earning his own ribbons soon. :)

Wooohooo! I'm proud too- of both of you. I LOVE a fearful dog success story. It motivates me to keep helping Maizey get out and about even if it's hard for us. I remember too how proud I was of Magnus when we first started going to agility things and he would lay quiet in his crate. I think I did a whole post about it.LOL Congrats!!

Well done to Oreo. Your dog doesn't have to much to get some people tsk tsking in my experience, I usually get Tommy to show them his teeth they seem to shut up after that.

Well done Sara and Oreo. Just out of curiosity - why do you want to retire him at only 4 years old?

Sara said...

Ninette, Oreo really has a tough time in trial environments. If he had a choice, he'd chose to stay home. Even though he pretty much q's every run, his heart isn't in it. I don't think it is fair to him.

Oh, I see - was just wondering as I have this past month had to retire my 11 year old due to age catching up to him, and my 8 year old due to his hips ... sad because they love it so much! But if Oreo doesn't love it, then it makes sense. Thanks.

Congratulations Oreo! That gold medal looks good on you!!! The ribbons are nice too -- but the gold medal is outstanding! I'm glad Chewy behaved himself too. The last photo is so cute with Chewy looking up at the ribbons!
