tricky t-day ~ crate up your brother

Our first offical Oreo & Chewy, double dog trick!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYnYvj6sMnM

Went to do our final walk thru yesterday. Good thing they call it a "walk thru" not a "drive thru", because there was no driving up to our new house. Thanks to Irene (you know, that once in a hundred years hurricane), the bridge to our driveway had washed out!

I was feeling really sick about it, wondering if this was a deal breaker.  If we closed on the house, would our movers agree to walk all our stuff all the way UP our driveway?  Probably not.

But then we decided to cross the creek and walk up to the house. The minute I got in view of our new property, I calmed. I really, really love this house. No matter what the raging waters were doing down below, it was so quiet and peaceful and dry at the house.

By the time we returned to the bridge, neighbors had already begun repairs! Not the way we anticipated meeting our new neighbors, but it is nice to know that they all help each other out in a crisis.
temporary fix

I will literally be off line on Thursday and Friday (due to the cable company), but will try and stay connected with my phone.

So nice to know you have great neighbors isn't it! When you live in a rural area having someone to go borrower something from is a good thing! Glad everything worked out, and that the house is now YOURS!!! So exciting!

Super cute trick - may come in handy some day!

Good luck with your move! I hope things go smoothly now that the bridge is passable. Looking forward to seeing more photos once you are settled in! So happy for you guys!

Love the trick! This is why I also need to move: so I can have a fenced yard and maybe be brave enough to get a second dog!

I am glad the neighbours at least are so friendly. And your house really does sound quite amazing. Once you are all moved in, little minor things like bridges just won't matter any more. Good luck!

I love the trick with crate. Don't worry about the broken bridge -- it can be fixed. Good thing the neigbors were there to help out and that you have good neighbors.

I think if you hadn't been sold on the house finding neighbors like that might have done the trick. We learned the value of having people like that around us this weekend. It make life so much easier when people work together when times are challenging.

Great trick. However, I could see Bailey trying to crate Katy.

Actually a great way to meet your neighbours, nothing like adversity to see how people pull together. Looking forward to seeing the new place from Oreo and Chewy's point of view.

A good post: dogs working together and neighbours working together. Every Blessing

Wow - with neighbors like that - you KNOW you have chosen the perfect house. How totally cool they helped like that. And how totally cool that Oreo and Chewy can lock each other (well sort of) I wonder who will figure out first - how handy that is to look the other one away - especially if there are some treats around or play time happening. I think Reilly would love to "put Denny away" when HIS dad comes home - he is not fond of sharing his dad :)

What a fantastic little trick! We've been slacking with tricks lately, and Lola is taking forever to really get the hang of the one we're working on, but we should be rejoining Tricky T-day as soon as possible!

That's a pretty cool way to meet your neighbours. It sounds like they're quite friendly, which is always good!

I think I had better not let Scampi see that video or she will be locking Tess in every time my back is turned! Don't let the bridge thing put you off your new house, it's just a little set back that will soon be forgotten once you are moved in. I think it's nice that you have a stream so close to your house. Hopefully the removal people will be able to get your things to the house now the bridge is patched up. Good luck with the move.

They fixed that quick. Good luck on the move!

I think that you are blessed to have such wonderful new neighbors! maybe everything was meant to happen this way so you could get to know them right from the start.

I LOVED the "crate your brother" trick! Wonder if a cat could learn it to crate his barking Sheltie brother? lol

wow, what a way to get acquainted with your new home. It looks super beautiful, and now you got to know your neighbors, so now that that storm is out of the way you can know the house can do ok.
Love the trick, the boys work really well together what a fun brothers you have ;-)
