our little house

Good bye to our great little house.  We've loved you, nutured you, molded you, and redefined you, now it is time to let you go.   What started out as a quiet little house in the woods, gradually changed, as trees were chopped down for new houses, driveways, playhouses and basketball courts.  It left us wondering...what tree will be chopped down next?

Reminds me of one of my favorite childhood books...."The Little House". The book starts out "Once upon a time there was a Little House way out in the country. She was a pretty Little House and she was strong and well built. In the story, the cute little house in the country, ended up with a city being built around it.  This made the house very sad.  Then one day, the house was put on a trailer and moved out to the country.  There, the house's smile came back.

Tomorrow, after all our stuff is moved in, we will be smiling.  I guess I've been dreaming of this little house in the country since I was little.

Well, dreams can come true.

Too bad we couldn't put our little house on a trailer and move her to our new location. Sure would involve a lot less painting!

Enjoy your new house. We would love a house with more land and privacy, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

I'm sure the dogs will miss their little house too but will simply adore their new one with a huge playground!

Good luck with the move!

It must be difficult to leave your current house behind! Good luck with your move and I hope you spend many, many happy years in your new home in the woods!

It will be hard to leave your house after years of fun but moving to a place that's out in the woods with peace and quiet will make it so wonderful! I say that about this house...if I could only move it somewhere else! It's in the middle of the city, across the street from an elementary school and house on top of house. Like the house...do not like the way things have changed around here at all. Best of luck on your move and congratulations!!! Lots of love, Debbie & Holly

It has to be a little hard and a little sad as you leave your little house where your life has been playing out the last few years, but what a cool place you are going to ;-). I am so happy for you all, it really looks like such a wonderful place, and someone is going to be so lucky to get your little house, it has always looked like such a nice house ;-). Happy Move!!!

Hi Sara, I don't envy you doing all that moving but I look forward to you getting settled in to your new place.

I'm happy/sad for you! I know it's hard to leave your little house. You have had a good life in it and you have lots of memories. But the new house is so exciting as well! Good luck with the move, wish we could all be there to help!

I love Little House on the Prairie TV show. Mommy says the TV show is all re-runs -- but the show is new to me! The way you described your old house kinda reminds Mommy of their house. When Mommy's family moved in about 14 years ago, there were more farmers off the main road, there were a lot of corn fields, it was more peaceful. But now, the developers bought that land and built more houses. There is a lot more traffic, and the stores are more crowded. They are even building a Walmart on the highway near us. Its just not our Little House on the Prairie anymore either. I wish you the best of luck with your new home -- sounds wonderful. I can't wait to hear all your new adventures in the new house. It's like the TV Show when Laura is grown -- Little House - A New Beginning!

I'm sure that's a little hard to leave such a wonderful place in your heart...sounds like you all are renting it though and not selling it, so that's good! Good luck with all of your moving adventures, I'm excited for you and the pups! Hopefully they can be mommy's little helpers instead of mommy's little troublemakers :)

Your sweet little house will miss your delightful sounds and warmth. But.I know there is a lovely family searching for this little house to grow in and to love. What a splendid reward when they find it.
Happy Moving!

Such a sweet post! It's always a little sad to move from a place where you have so many memories, even when you are looking forward to new things. I am sure your little house will miss you.

I had forgotten all about that book until you mention it. In my old city there was a house just like that, a small little blue bungalow with a porch, in between two tall buildings in the heart of downtown. Every time I walked by it, I thought of the house in the book. Thank you for the memory!

Sara! I had a really crazy thing happen yesterday....I had never heard of this book "The Little House" until you wrote about it in this post. I was working at the library yesterday morning and it came right through the book drop and I just had to read it! What a coincidence, huh? It was an adorable book! You'd think that I would have at least seen it before, but never until now. I love when stuff like that happens :)

Laura..that's crazy!

Kristine, so nice to hear someone else loved that book.

Lassitier Chase....I LOVE little house on the prairie! My friends and I used to "play" it all the time. We even abbreviated it...LHOP. We'd say, "let's play LHOP." Fun!
