tricky t-day ~moonwalk

I mentioned last week that Chewy was starting to scoot back on his own while in a down.  All week, I've been working on shaping him to go back a bit further.  We still have some work to do, but he's getting it.

This video was shot with me using kibble as his reward.  He was REALLY excited about the food.  Almost too excited, because he was having trouble controlling himself.  I'm not one to squelch enthusiasm though.

We started our Silvia Trkman Distance Puppy Class this week.  I am so looking forward to learning from one of the best trick/agility trainers out there (IMHO), especially when it comes to teaching the dog how to learn and making sure the dog finds it nothing but FUN.

Luckily, I had already started training some of the things on our first "to do" list. Gives us a bit of a headstart.  Although, Chewy still has a lot of learning to do.

That's the best moonwalk I've ever seen and Chewy is the cutest moonwalker ever!!

Eva came to watch it and I secretly hope she has learnt a bit from your video. LOL.

As I watch your videos I am starting to understand more about how shaping works.

Chewy is just so adorable. Your ability to focus while watching all that puppy cuteness is amazing.

I just can't get over your Chewbac! Love to see his little brain working. Hope you keep us updated on his puppy class work. I always love seeing the training you do with Oreo. I know watching Chewy learn will be just as fun!

Might come in handy for gamblers. A woman I know has a back up command for her Border Collie. Using it she can get him in the right position for a hard tunnel entry all while staying behind the Gamble line.

Chewy is soo cute... makes me want another puppy.

That's just too adorable - and a reminder that I wanted to teach Lola to do the same thing! She's always wiggling backwards. :)

It must be hard for such a young, excited pup to remember that moving away from the food is the way for him to get it. He's doing so great though!

He's so distracting to watch, cause I lose track of what he's doing while I drool over HIM! He's so adorable! And obviously smart!

Hi Y'all,

I'm in trouble now! I'm afraid if my Human sees this video she'll trade me in for a Chewy dog. :(

Y'all come by now,

Oh, God, I love that moonwalk! I will be giggling over this all night! I wonder if you'll be able to get him to wear a sparkly glove! The slow motion part cracked me up.
