misty monday~teaching Oreo

"Make sure you check back with Mommy every few steps while we're out walking."

"Don't leave the yard without permission."

"Lookout for neighbors, deer, squirrels and anything else that moves.  Hey, where you going? Huh.  Guess someone else will have to work on your watchdog skills."

This weekend I was really missing Misty.  It was perfect spring weather.  I know I would have had a hard time getting her to come back inside.  She'd choose the sun over me on days like these. Misty would enter a doggie zen.  Boy, did she love to be outside doing nothing.

I even found myself looking for her as I cleaned up the yard, expecting to see her in the dog garden, or find her head resting on the deck railing.

Oreo seemed a bit out of sorts too, not knowing what to do with himself.  He used to settle next to her.  Instead, he did a lot of laps around the garden.

Misty was such a good sister to Oreo! I love the photo of Misty and baby Oreo on the deck. :)

I think everyone misses Misty, beautiful old girl.

Yes we all do, but sometimes hesitate to say it, so as not to make you even sadder.

Such a sweetie. Wish they could all stay forever.

This is my favorite Misty Monday post so far! I adore those photos of Misty teaching Oreo the ways of the world. Thinking about Misty missing a beautiful sunny day brings tears to my eyes too - I miss her also.

I love the first picture the best!! Its hard when someone or a pet passes and you expect them to be there. I hate that feeling of reminder. ugh! Im glad you finally had some nice weather.

I love the picture of Oreo and Misty on the deck. I know how you're feeling about Misty; I found myself really missing Ceilidh this weekend too. In a little over a month, it will have been a year since I let her go but some days it is still hard to believe she's no longer with me.

She was an excellent teacher - for both her brother and for you. Maybe that is what Oreo needs now - someone to teach - a little sister or brother and maybe what you need to - another little furbaby to bring love and laughter back. Something to think about.

Awwwww. wish I was there to give you guys a hug, I miss Misty too, I am sure not like you guys, but it is sometimes suprising how when you least expect all the missing and the memories come flooding back. Misty sure looks like she was the best big sister to Oreo, I am glad you and Oreo have each other, and your hubby to share the memories and comfort each other.

I can relate! Sometimes I still think I'll turn around and see Treat somewhere. It's been almost three years now, and I still miss her. It looks like Misty taught Oreo a lot of important things before she left!

I get the same way with these spring days - it makes me start missing Taco more than normal. Definitely thinking of you - I know it must still be tough.

I'm sure Oreo is a model citizen after all of the valuable training Misty gave him!

I miss Misty too. She was really a perfect girl and such a great maternal figure to little Oreo.

I love that last picture of her. You are right. She is in doggie zen.

What is it about spring that brings on missing the ones we've lost? I have been feeling this same way about Meeka. . . I keep saying, "Wow! I think spring is really going to make me miss my big girl." Those puppy oreo and misty pics really drove it all home. She was such a good girl!
