tricky t-day ~ playing cards

Since Oreo hurt himself (he's better now), I had to find a trick which didn't require much movement.  Learning to limbo was postponed for at least another week.

When one is hurt/sick, what do you do?  Stay inside and play cards, right?

I'm not sure how much Oreo likes cards, but I thought he did pretty well for his first try.

Goodness gracious you can just see his little wheels turning! He is too smart! What a great idea, and a willing player :)

I, too, thought rally looked terribly boring, but since I have a dog that can't do agility I thought I'd try it out. I am amazed at how much Homer and I have bonded in such a short time. And for Riley, I think it's great for her to learn to focus more on me- so I think it has multiple purposes for us :) I'm really looking forward to seeing Oreo out there Rallyin' it up!

What an adorable trick. I'd be tempted to try it if she had a soft mouth like Oreo - but, unfortunately, everything that goes in to her mouth inevitably gets chewed on. I think we'd wind up with a rather pathetic looking deck of cards!

Also, I saw your comment about Rally looking boring. Compared to agility, it is much more slow paced and probably not as exciting. But it really is great for bonding, and I like it because we can go to competitions and not feel the same stress that we feel at agility trials. It could work for Oreo!

Oh goodness that is so very clever!! Oreo you clever boy!!!
If we got Eva to pick up a card, she'd be eating it up first!!

Wow, Oreo is amazing! This was his first time? He's such a clever boy. :) My girls would both just stare at me if I tried doing this; and I'd end up with chewed up cards very quickly.

Katy would eat the card too. And certainly not give it back, even if asked nicely. On the other hand..how do we know unless we try. Maybe our dogs are smarter than we know!

I agree Rally is not as exciting as agility..but it really is a good bonding experience. Not that Oreo ISN'T bonded already with you...just saying.

So cute! What a bright little guy.

This would be a great way to work on Shiva's holding but not destroying objects in her mouth. Thanks for the inspiration!

I am glad Oreo is doing so much better.

I do think if there was a big prize for most inventive trick inventor you would get it, that is a great trick, and Oreo has so many talents, he is such a smartie!!! Great job you two!

I reckon you lost that game Sara, did you have a bad hand of cards?

What a cute trick, not sure Beckett would tear up the cards. He likes to tear up plastic, cardboard and tissue paper
