tricky t-day ~ still working on limp

Ironically, we were working on the "limp trick" right before Oreo actually started limping.

I thought we'd start practicing again now that he's better.

Oreo has the lift his paw part done pat. It is the step forward portion that I'm clicking for now. I am trying to fade him resting weight on my hand as well.

Here is a short video. Not even close to perfect, but I know we are going to get this one.

PS: After reading the day BEFORE's blog entry, I'm surprised it's not YOU that's limping after 16 miles!

Good job! Oreo will get it - the last try was very promising! We have been working on this one off and on forever and not getting close to fading me putting my weight on mom's hand. Mom stands next to my side and bends way over to reach me and I put up my paw and rest it a little on her hand. I have heard that getting the first step without any assistance is the absolute hardest part.

How can it be Tuesday again already? The weeks just go by so fast!

LOL. I'm not, but Jeff is still sleeping, we'll see how he looks later. He forgot to take his celebrex yesterday.

Sara, you need to teach a trick class! You and Oreo always have something so fun to show us. I have to say that your title worried me at first. I zeroed in on the "limp" and thought something happened to Oreo. Then I managed to read the tricky t-day part. Phew!

I agree with AC- you should teach a trick class! You and Oreo have so many tricks that you do! I always run out of ideas- maybe you should come up with a list of all of Oreo's someday, I'm sure you have A LOT!

It took Riley a while to learn that one, but once she got it- it was so cute. Then after I taught it to her, she was limping for real on that leg and I felt guilty lol. It's a cute one though- she offers that trick when she gets REALLY excited about something (or when she gets confused because her mom is a nut!).

And yeah, it took me like a year to finally take the plunge and feed raw. I'm still getting used to it (it's a little gross and scary at first!), but the dogs are really enjoying it! Something needed to be done about Homer's issues, and I'm hoping that raw will help him- it's worth a shot!
