tricky t-day ~ backward circle

Backward circle is a trick that Ricky has known how to do for a long time. Oreo mastered it a few days before he injured himself.

This week, I felt we were at the point where Oreo was strong enough to be doing this trick again. We have been in therapy for 6 weeks this Thursday, not to mention the 5 weeks of rest prior. We have only 1 week left of hydrotherapy. Oreo is now walking on a significant incline in the underwater treadmill, as well as climbing hills outside, in a serpentine fashion. People driving by must think I'm crazy. Our ballwork has been upped to 15 minutes, and we do it about 3-4 times a week. Every week, I lessen Oreo's restrictions, and he has yet to regress. Whew. No limping in about two months time, and he has been off the anti-inflammatory for 5 weeks. Oreo's life is progressively returning to normal. I have even mailed in a couple trial entries for summer, with hopes that we will be back to agility very soon.

Today, we see our regular vet for Oreo's annual physical! Seems ridiculous, considering the amount of time we spent at various appointments, but he still needs to be checked for heartworm and get a lyme vaccination. I am anxious for her to feel Oreo's leg. Hoping for nothing but good news. Wish us luck!

Here's this week's video, our first lively video in quite some time. I threw in some old tricks too, that are part of our PT routine, i.e. weaving thru legs.

I watched this whole video in slo-mo to see if I saw any weird things going on with his legs, and besides Oreo's inate weirdness, nothing.

Oh, and I have to give out an honorary "moody monday" gold star to Priscilla.
Who wrote this caption for my Monday photo:
You're going away again? Humph. Maybe sulking in the corner will get me some attention...
Priscilla, your caption was much better than mine!  Probably more accurate as well.

Yay! Thanks for the gold star, Sara!

Oreo's circle tricks are pretty cool. Misty is asking why you don't give her more treats...LOL!

Hurray!!! Oreo looks great! Awesome backwards circling! Now he needs to learn to go in the opposite direction! I love the circle and weave variations he throws in!

I am sooooo glad to hear he is getting stronger and better all the time. You must be so happy and relieved! Can't wait to see him back in action in agility!

Congrats to Priscilla on her gold star - I thought her comment yesterday was very clever!

Very glad Oreo's treatments are working! Doesn't seem like that many weeks have gone by, but I guess so. He looks great! He's so FAST!

It sounds like all your hard work with Oreo's rehab is really paying off. I hope he only continues to get stronger and will be ready for those agility trials.

Oreo looks like he'll be ready for a freestyle competition with all his spin moves!

Love the tricks! We've still got to work on our weaving through the legs.

Great to hear that Oreo's staying sound with the increased activity. :-)

Good to see Oreo back to this Tricky-tastic self! :-)

And good luck at the vet's! I agree - it seems crazy for you to be going for an annual when you seem to have been living there in the past few months! :-)
