bathroom 7

The shower is finally complete!

One more night of dry time, one more shower with plastic sheeting, and back to "normalcy". Can't wait. I can't believe this is our bathroom. I am sure it is the nicest shower on our street!

On to the floors!

frisbee dog

Oreo and I watched a dog show, that included border collies catching frisbees. We were both inspired. So, I ordered Oreo a floppy frisbee to give it a shot.

Well, not only can my dog sing, jump through hoops, and weave through poles, now he can catch a frisbee! When I get ready to throw it, he watches the frisbee with the same intensity a border collie watches his sheep. He can catch it in mid air, and even jumps up to get it. We are only in the beginning stages, but I long to see Oreo running and leaping in the air after the frisbee. (I need to practice my throwing skills). I'm sure it won't be long, before he is doing so.

This is one amazing dog. What will he learn next?

woody

Jeff spotted our neighborhood woodpecker this morning. He is busily pounding his beak into a tree across the creek. Can you spot him?

How about now?

He is one big bird.

OK, where's the lamb?

March is supposed to be "out like a lamb". Hey, at least I get a few days off from cleaning muddy paws.

The dogs don't seem to mind the fresh snow:

bathroom 6

Jeff took the day off today, and tiled the shower area. It looks awesome. The spacers are still in, and we have to add the grout, but it really looks great. I think we should have our own show on HGTV.

Our sheetrock saga began when Jeff's truckload of sheetrock fell out of his truck, in the middle of a major intersection. Every piece got cracked. Luckily, a kind passerby helped Jeff load it all back in his truck, cracks and all. Since our bathroom has a lot of small walls, we were able to use most of it, and Jeff made sure to tie down the next load at the Depot.
From that point on, the sheet rock received tender loving care.
Jeff spent all last week taping and sanding our new sheet rock to a state of perfection. He was quite anal about the whole process. A guy, who does sheet rock for a living, told Jeff that anyone that anal should probably not be doing sheet rock.
It was the first time Jeff had ever really done this kind of job. He watched a DIY video I got out of the library, read a couple pages in a book, then went for it. There was some swearing along the way, along with a ton of dust, but Jeff's analness (is that a word?) paid off. The bathroom walls are virtually flawless. Now, I am noticing seams on the walls in the rest of the house. Something, I never noticed before.
Jeff and I spent Easter painting our brand new, seamless walls. Very exciting. We still have to add the crown molding and trim. Last night, we hung our new mirror and light fixture. Can't wait to see it all with my new vanity.

Go Siena!!!!!!

Boy, it just doesn't get any better than that. Not only did they win, but they never trailed and won by a wide margin.

Someone at work said that Siena didn't deserve to be there! Wonder if they still feel the same way.

One article said Siena hasn't made it this far in the NCAA tournament in 19 years...I thought they must have forgotten about our win against Stanford when I was in college.

Yikes! I was in college 19 years ago!! Boy, am I old.

On to Villanova!!!!!

Happy Spring Fest!

Happy Spring!

Although, if you go outside, it doesn't feel much like spring today.

Oreo is helping fertilize my spring bulbs by peeing all over my garden.

Misty catches lots of new smells carried by the wind.

Boy is it windy!

Oreo is looking forward to smelling the daffodils and mole hunting.

Oreo's orbee

Oreo's love affair with his orbee continues. I love how he holds the ball in his paws while he tries to removes the continents.

I had my own love affair with Munchkin's paws. I loved them so much - they were so cute and tiny, that I wanted to have one of his paws made into a key chain when he died. Everyone thought that was a little strange, so I didn't. Probably a good thing. Even faux rabbit's feet gross me out.

Oreo's paws are pretty cute too. Though, they are never as clean as Munchie's. Munchkin would never dig in the dirt.

Jeff finished tearing down all the walls, and hung up all the new greenboard (purple board). Between all the dust created by the demo, and the dirt and mud the dogs are bringing in the house, I have used my vacuum and mop more in the past two weeks than I usually use them in a year!
I guess cleaning up is the least I could do, considering all the time and effort Jeff has put into this project. It's amazing he got all this done - and we haven't had to go a day without a toilet, sink or shower yet! We will be using Babci's commode when we lay down the tile. The tile has to set for 24 hours before putting any weight on it. Jeff thinks we should get a porta potty and put it on the front lawn.
I don't think so.

bathroom 3

Change of plans. We decided that maybe we better finish putting all the walls up before installing any tile. Don't want to risk ruining our tile job. So, Jeff got a few more walls sheet rocked. I don't know why they make the sheet rock purple, but that will not be anywhere close to our actual paint color. We are using mold resistant sheet rock, which is called "greenboard", so I think it should be green.

Misty and Oreo vied for the ray of sunshine in the living room,

and kept an eye on things outside.

raindrops on doggies....

Rainy Saturday. It has been days since we've been able to do agility outside - way too muddy. I am almost hoping for some cold weather - so the ground will be frozen.

Daffodil buds are started to shoot up out of the ground, and the birds are singing. Spring will be here soon.

Jeff and I just got a new camera - so I've been playing around with it this morning. The clarity is unbelieveable - you can see the raindrops on Oreo! Wish I had it when it was snowing.

Oreo says, "What's a dog got to do to stay warm around here?"

Oreo climbed under his Daddy's blanket all on his own. Then took a little snooze.

bathroom 2

Jeff took the day off from work yesterday to work on the bathroom. He was able to finish the wallboard and did some sheetrocking too. He was most proud of his plumbing work. He sweated pipes and installed the new shower fixtures. We went from three knobs to one - which is nice, but meant making a lot of changes to the plumbing. Jeff was going to ask the neighbor for help - but didn't need it.

Jeff's perfect plumbing
Now, we're almost ready to tile! Finally, the pretty stuff gets to be installed!

new tub

Here are some photos of our new white tub.

Oreo didn't have to do any work today. Although, he did practice his jumps, tunnel and weave poles.

the fun begins....

Well, we finally started our bathroom demolition. We have only accrued minor injuries so far. Jeff has some cuts from breaking down the tiled walls. I pinched my hand between wood and the new tub while we were installing it. No trips to the ER needed, so I guess we are doing ok.
Here are some photos of the destruction:

Out with the harvest gold tub!!!!!!!!!!

The new white tub is in, and Jeff is hanging up the backer board right now.

Here is a message we found behind the tub wall:

I hate the Riston's. What were they thinking?????????
